JEWELRY CARE
A few easy steps that will ensure your items will last. Before you put any jewelry on, be sure any lotions and/or perfumes are absorbed into your skin. Apply all hair products, especially hair spray, before you put on the jewelry. Remove your jewelry before swimming, an invigorating workout or prior to bedtime. When you remove your jewelry at the end of your day, take a couple of minutes to wipe it off with a jewelry cloth or an old t-shirt. Never use tissues or paper towels for cleaning. These products will scratch the jewelry, which will detract from the beauty of the pieces. After the jewelry is wiped clean, store it in an airtight container, such as a zip lock baggie, a cloth bag and/or an airtight jewelry box
GOLD JEWELRY
Caring for your gold rings on a daily basis is quite simple. If your work involves rough hand work, or working with chemicals you would rather not wear your gold rings to work. Gold rings can easily be scratched and should also never be exposed to chemicals such as chlorine. Even the most secure diamond settings may loosen over time, particularly if extensively worn. It is recommended to have the rings checked every few months to have the prongs tightened as well having the rings cleaned.
SILVER JEWELRY
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. The first thing to understand is sterling silver tarnishes, typically by things that we do or not do and/or wear. Perfume, colognes, lotions, sweaty skin and hair products can all be contributing factors to tarnishing your shiny jewelry. If sterling silver is exposed to the air and left unprotected when not being worn, tarnish becomes inevitable.
DO’S
After each wearing, gently wipe each piece of jewelry clean of makeup and skin oils with a 100% cotton cloth.
Remove jewelry when doing household tasks such as gardening, cleaning, household repairs or other strenuous activities.
Store jewelry away from sunlight. The sun may fade some gemstones.
Frequent cleaning is recommended to maintain its true beauty
DON’TS
Do not wear jewelry while in a pool, hot tub or bathing. The chlorine in the water can damage various gemstones and metals including gold.
Do not store jewelry next to heating vents, window sills, or in the car.
Wipe your jewelry carefully with a soft cloth to keep it clean and enjoy!
